Turtle On A Fencepost Movement Circle

DEAR GOD, GIVE ME YOUR EYES TO SEE PEOPLE THE WAY YOU SEE THEM.

WHEN YOU SEE A TURTLE ON A FENCEPOST…

…You know it didn’t get there on its own. Someone put them there. The fun is in finding the why!

As Christians we are called to walk through life looking for opportunities to share Jesus. These “fencepost turtles” God put in our path are exactly that! To create more opportunities, I use turtles as a tool. I wear turtles on my clothing or jewelry. I have turtles on my phone and hanging in my car.  They’re everywhere! Then, when someone comments on my turtle, they ARE my turtle for the day! That’s my opportunity.

It’s a chance to have a conversation.

It’s an opening to make myself available for God to work through.

It’s not about “preaching” or “bible thumping.”  It’s an approach I call “Evangelizing With Permission.”

When you are curious and non-judgmental, people will open up. It’s amazing what happens when you actively invite God to work through you on a daily basis.

Meet The Turtles

When you find someone who is your “Turtle On A Fencepost,” someone who has been put in your life for a reason, someone who asks you about your turtles, it’s your chance to tell the story. And when you do, they’ll let you know which kind of turtle they are…

Tank The Snapping Turtle

TANK – THE SNAPPING TURTLE

He snaps back at you when you mention God. When someone gets angry, it almost always a mechanism to cover up another emotion. Underneath that aggressive exterior, they could be feeling hurt or scared.

Terri The Turtle Shell

TERRI – THE TURTLE SHELL

“I don’t want to talk about it.” The truth is that Terri is terrified. They are scared to go down that road. Talking about religion makes them anxious and overwhelmed, and it might come off as hard or closed off. But under that layer of protection is a story!

Trixie The Hippy Turtle

TRIXIE – THE HIPPY TURTLE

A lost turtle might masquerade as a peace-lover who embraces broad acceptance. “You do you!” “All roads lead to the same place.” That story sounds good and feels good, so it must be true right? But if you’re hitchhiking, it’s likely you’re not on a road that leads where you want.

Trap The Turtle On His Back

TRAP – TURTLE ON ITS BACK

When someone is in urgent need, they aren’t going to share openly or hear what you have to say until their need is met. They are trapped in their circumstances, which creates the perfect opportunity for a shift.
